The Crown Prosecution Service charges John Terry for allegedly making racist comments to Anton Ferdinand.

The Crown Prosecution Service have charged Chelsea and England captain John Terry over allegations that he racially abused Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

The incident is said to have taken place at Loftus Road in October, a game which QPR won 1-0.

After the match, internet rumours spread that accused Terry of making racist comments towards Ferdinand, claims that Terry has strongly denied.

However, the CPS have decided that there is a case for Terry to answer.

"I have today advised the Metropolitan Police Service that John Terry should be prosecuted for a racially aggravated public order offence following comments allegedly made during a Premier League football match between Queen's Park Rangers and Chelsea on 23 October 2011," said Alison Saunders, Chief Crown Prosecutor for London.

"The decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and after careful consideration of all the evidence I am satisfied there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute this case."

Terry will appear in court on Wednesday, February 1.
