Didier Drogba has praised Yaya Toure after the Manchester City midfielder won the African Player of the Year award.
Toure saw off the former Chelsea striker to win the award for the second successive year and Drogba admitted that while he was disappointed not to be crowned Africa's best player, he could not argue with the decision.
Drogba told Supersport: "I'm a bit disappointed but have to acknowledge the fact that Yaya deserves his crown.
"You can't be too disappointed if you are defeated by a player like Yaya. He has been very regular at Etihad Stadium and not this year alone. It has been two years now he's doing great things with his club.
"He deserves the award and I can confess that."
Drogba helped former side Chelsea to the Champions League final, where he scored the winning goal in a penalty shootout victory against Bayern Munich.
