James McArthur, Phil Neville admit Pep Guardiola disappointment

Wigan Athletic midfielder James McArthur and Everton skipper Phil Neville react to Bayern Munich's appointment of Pep Guardiola.

Wigan Athletic midfielder James McArthur has admitted he is "gutted" that Pep Guardiola has agreed to join Bayern Munich.

It had been expected that the former Barcelona boss would move to the Premier League at the end of the season, with Chelsea and Manchester City both interested.

"Kinda gutted that Pep is going to Bayern was looking forward to seeing what he was going to do in the Premier League," McArthur tweeted.

Everton skipper Phil Neville has also revealed his surprise. He tweeted: "Pep Guardiola to be Bayern Munich manager next season. Didn't see that coming was certain he'd end up in the Premiership.

"German football is strong-good young players fantastic stadiums and Bayern one of the biggest clubs in the world, suppose a good move!"

Guardiola will take charge of the Bundesliga outfit in July.
