Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says that Alvaro Morata could start this Saturday's Premier League opener against Burnley.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has claimed that Alvaro Morata could be handed a starting spot in Saturday's Premier League opener against Burnley.

The Spaniard, who signed for the Blues in a reported £60m move from Real Madrid last month, could lead the line at Stamford Bridge as the club begin the defence of their title.

Morata was named among the substitutes for Sunday's Community Shield against Arsenal and later introduced in the 74th minute of the game at Wembley.

It was not a match to remember for the striker as he ended up missing a penalty in the shootout, which resulted in defeat for Chelsea.

Ahead of the Blues' opener, Conte told Sky Sports News: "Morata is a really good player, a young player, and despite being 24 he has a lot of experience.

"He needs now to play regularly. This player I trust a lot. He is starting to understand our idea of football. He could be an option, a possibility to start on Saturday."

Morata is one of three new signings, alongside Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, to arrive at the club this summer so far.
