Chelsea are "still working" on an extension to Thiago Silva's contract at Stamford Bridge, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 36-year-old joined the Blues on a free transfer last summer following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain and has made 21 appearances in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.
Silva's current deal with Chelsea is due to expire at the end of June, but the London club do have the option of activating an additional 12 months on the agreement.
According to Romano, who posted an update on his official Twitter account, Thomas Tuchel's side are "working" to extend the centre-back's contract, with a final decision due "in the coming days/weeks".
Silva has made 17 Premier League appearances during the current season, scoring twice, but he has not been involved in the top flight since the start of February due to a thigh problem.
The Brazilian has also captained Chelsea on nine occasions in the league this term.
