Sanchez Watt, Jabo Ibehre released by Colchester United

Colchester United confirm that Sanchez Watt and Jabo Ibehre have not been offered new contracts by the club.

Colchester United have confirmed that Sanchez Watt and Jabo Ibehre have been released by the club.

Watt made 54 appearances for the U's, while Ibehre played 76 times for the League One side.

Meanwhile, captain David Fox is in talks with club officials over a new contract.

"It's a massive shame that things didn't work out differently with Sanchez because he is a player with huge potential," manager Tony Humes told Colchester's official website.

"Unfortunately, we didn't see his true ability enough and with his contract coming to an end, we had to make the decision to let him go and try and fulfill that potential somewhere else.

"Jabo's contract is coming to an end and it has been clear for quite a while that he would be seeking a future elsewhere once the season had finished."

Young defender Kevin Lokko has also joined Watt and Ibehre in leaving the Colchester Community Stadium.
