Brede Hangeland: 'Crystal Palace need to get back on the training pitch'

Crystal Palace defender Brede Hangeland claims that his team needs "to get back on the training pitch" following their 3-1 defeat against West Ham United.

Crystal Palace defender Brede Hangeland has criticised his teammates following their 3-1 Premier League home defeat against West Ham United, claiming that the squad needs to "get back on the training pitch".

Mauro Zarate, Stewart Downing and Carlton Cole scored at Selhurst Park to secure all three points for the Hammers, with Marouane Chamakh's first-half goal proving little more than a consolation in the end.

Hangeland told BBC Sport: "I thought last weekend we played well and lost, but this weekend have not played well and lost. We need to get back on the training pitch and work hard.

"To go 3-1 down during our best spell in the game was very disappointing.

"Ideally you would like a settled situation but often that is not the case so you have to try and focus on things you can influence and that is your performance on the training pith and on the pitch on a Saturday."

Palace slip to 19th place in the Premier League table, while West Ham climb to seventh.
