Tony Pulis praises "brilliant" linesman

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis praises the linesman for overriding a crucial penalty call in their 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has praised the linesman for overriding a penalty call in their 1-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa at Selhurst Park.

During the game, settled by Jason Puncheon's second-half strike, Howard Webb gave the away side a penalty in the 67th minute when the ball struck Nathan Baker's chest in the box, but the assistant referee stepped in to make the right call.

Pulis praised this decision, telling reporters after the game: "I think the linesman did brilliant for the second [penalty appeal].

"The first one is debatable, we think Yannick Bolasie was caught but it's not a clear-cut, easy decision for Howard Webb but thank goodness we're not talking about the referee."

Crystal Palace currently occupy 12th place in the Premier League, while Aston Villa are two places below in 14th.
