Danny Gabbidon wants new deal

Out-of-contract Crystal Palace defender Danny Gabbidon insists that he can still perform in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace defender Danny Gabbidon has revealed that he wants to sign a new contract with the newly-promoted Premier League club.

The 33-year-old, who played a key role for Palace in the latter part of the season, sees his short-term contract with the club expire at the end of this month.

"I still think I have a lot to offer Palace. We will have to see what happens in the next couple of weeks but, yes, I want to stay. I feel I can still play at the top level," Gabbidon told The Mirror.

"I have a lot of experience and that has helped this season because we have a lot of young lads in the team. I have been able to give advice to the younger lads when they have needed it. That's my job. If I am not in the team, it is up to me to try to help them."

Cardiff City and Hull City were also promoted from the Championship.
