FA offers Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard fast track into coaching?

The FA is looking into the prospect of reducing the time it takes former pros like Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard to complete their coaching badges, a report claims.

The Football Association has reportedly offered former England players Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard a fast track into coaching.

According to The Sun, FA chiefs are desperate to keep high-profile former players on board and hope that a quicker route to the top will persuade others to take up various roles.

It is claimed that Lampard and Gerrard, both of whom are currently plying their trade in Major League Soccer with New York City FC and Los Angeles Galaxy respectively, were recently contacted by England bosses.

Previously, it has taken up to four years for players to achieve their coaching qualifications, but the report claims that the ex-Three Lions internationals will be given the chance to complete it in half that time.

Gareth Southgate is expected to take on the England job full time later this year, with Gerrard and Lampard possibly being brought on board to work alongside the likes of Eric Dier, Dele Alli and John Stones to further develop the current crop's all-round games.
