Report: Shanghai SIPG eager to sign Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney

Shanghai SIPG manager Sven-Goran Eriksson wants Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney to join him at the Chinese club, according to reports.

Shanghai SIPG manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has tabled an offer for Wayne Rooney to join him at the Chinese club, according to reports.

The Manchester United and England captain has found himself under increased criticism over the last few months and has lost his first-team place for both club and country.

According to The Mirror, the former Three Lions boss will make the proposal to Man Utd in January for Rooney to finish his playing days in the Far East.

The 30-year-old is also rumoured to be considering bids from the MLS in the United States, where former England teammates Steven Gerrard, David Beckham and Frank Lampard have plied their trade.
