Leighton Baines: 'We want to finish season strongly after FA Cup exit'

Everton left-back Leighton Baines insists that he and his teammates want to finish the season "strongly" following their FA Cup exit.

Everton left-back Leighton Baines is aiming for a 'strong' finish to the season following his side's FA Cup exit.

The Toffees failed to clinch a place in the semi-finals of the tournament after losing 4-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

With only the Premier League now to focus on, Baines believes that Everton can end the season on a high as they prepare to take on Cardiff City and Swansea City in their next two fixtures.

"We've got a couple of home games now that we know we're capable of winning and that we probably know we must win in terms of having a push for the back end of the season with just the league to focus on," the Liverpool Echo quotes Baines as saying.

"We want to finish strongly and those two games will hopefully be a platform we can build on. We've got to get it out of our system.

"It's our job as players and professional footballers to not wallow in it too long and find a way to move on. That starts on Monday."

The Merseyside outfit are currently seventh in the league table.
