Seamus Coleman says that beating Tottenham Hotspur was a massive result for Everton.

Everton midfielder Seamus Coleman has heaped praise on his side following their late turnaround against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffees trailed 1-0 heading into injury time courtesy of a Clint Dempsey opener at Goodison Park, but scored twice in the dying moments to claim a dramatic 2-1 victory over the North Londoners.

The Merseysiders move up to fourth in the table following the win, and Coleman admits that it was a game they had to win.

"It was a big game and a massive few points," said Coleman. "Before the game I was at home looking at the table and it occurred to me that a win could really put us up there but with a defeat we were looking at maybe dropping down to ninth.

"I was really pleased to be back and involved in the goal. I thought I'd be fit for last week but unfortunately wasn't so it was good to be back in the team. I thought I had done it again in the first half but fortunately I got up and ran it off. I felt good in the end."

Everton travel to Stoke City in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
