Fulham close in on the free transfer signing of Lazio's 27-year-old goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to a report.

Fulham have closed in on the free transfer signing of Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha this summer, according to a report.

The Albanian shot stopper sees his contract with the Serie A outfit expire at the end of June, leaving him free to discuss a move to other clubs this summer.

Newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham are said to have been in talks with the 27-year-old for several weeks ahead of their return to the top flight, and are now close to completing the deal according to The Sun.

The report suggests that a four-year deal is on the table for Strakosha, which will include additional signing-on bonuses if a potential deal is completed.

An agreement has not yet been made, but the report outlines how both parties are confident that the deal will go through.

Fellow top-flight side Southampton are said to have held an interest in bringing Strakosha to the Premier League this summer as a replacement for the departed Fraser Forster, before it emerged on Thursday that the Saints are close to securing the signing of Manchester City's Gavin Bazunu instead.

After coming through the academy with Lazio, Strakosha has gone on to make 208 appearances for the Italian side, helping them to lift Coppa Italia trophies during his 10-year stay so far.
