Fulham 'weighing up loan move for Wolves defender Ryan Bennett'

Fulham have conceded 10 goals in their first three Premier League games.

Fulham are interested in Wolves' Ryan Bennett as they look to fix their defensive problems.

The Cottagers are considering a loan move for the defender, the PA news agency understands.

Scott Parker's side have conceded 10 goals in their opening three games after Monday's 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

They have lost every match to sit bottom of the Premier League and after losing to Villa, director of football operations Tony Khan admitted they had struggled to find defensive reinforcements.

Khan wrote on Twitter: "I apologise to Fulham supporters for our performance tonight. We've looked to add centre-backs since Wembley.

"I'm sorry we haven't yet as two got COVID and we lost a free we thought was close.

"We had another issue with a fourth CB. I promise players in and better efforts from this squad."

Fulham go to Molineux on Sunday and Bennett is on their radar but neither Wolves nor the centre-back are keen on the move ahead of next week's transfer deadline.

The 30-year-old is assessing his options before the window closes but could yet stay at Molineux.

He is yet to be included in the squad this season but is training with the first team and is not pushing for a move.

Wolves signed Ki-Jana Hoever from Liverpool for around £9million this month, pushing Bennett further down the pecking order at Molineux, but they have shipped seven goals in their last two games, including Sunday's 4-0 humbling at West Ham.

Bennett spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester, making five appearances, but the Foxes opted not to trigger a £5million permanent deal.

He has been at Wolves since joining on a free from Norwich in 2017 and helped them win the Sky Bet Championship title in 2018.

The former England Under-21s international has played 92 times for Wolves, scoring three goals.
