Fulham skipper Tom Cairney will reportedly be allowed to leave the club for £20m this summer if the Cottagers fail to get promoted to the Premier League.

Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney will reportedly be allowed to leave the club for £20m if the Cottagers fail to win promotion to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has drawn plaudits for his performances for the Championship side over the last two seasons and was heavily pursued by Newcastle United in the last two transfer windows.

The skipper ultimately decided to pen a new deal with Slavisa Jokanovic's side, however, and has since gone on to spearhead a promotion push that has seen Fulham go a club-record 16 games unbeaten and ascend to third in the table.

According to The Mirror, should Fulham not gain promotion either automatically or through the playoffs, Cairney has been told that he can depart for a top-flight side if they meet a £20m asking fee.

Newcastle are likely to return for Cairney, who moved to Craven Cottage from Blackburn Rovers in 2015, while there is also interest from West Ham United and Watford.
