Mario Gomez has revealed his delight after being recalled into the Germany squad for their upcoming friendlies against France and Netherlands this month.
The 30-year-old has not played for his country since September 2014, but after scoring eight goals in 11 league appearances on loan at Besiktas this season, the forward was handed a recall.
"The last few weeks have gone well for me. I'm enjoying my football again and I'm happy to be back. I look forward to every national team game and I'm excited," Gomez told reporters.
"After the last two years, it's obviously not been so great but it means I am looking forward to it more now."
Gomez, who has 25 international goals to his name, remains contracted to Italian side Fiorentina, but his form in Turkey has led to talk that Manchester United want to sign him in January.
