Johan Djourou leaves Arsenal for permanent Hamburger SV deal

Johan Djourou signs for Hamburg on a permanent basis, ending a 12-year spell with Arsenal.

Johan Djourou has left Arsenal for good by securing a permanent move to Hamburger SV.

The 27-year-old, who first joined the Gunners as a youth player in 2002, spent last season on loan in Germany.

After making 24 appearances for the Bundesliga side, the defender has opted to make his move permanent following a 12-year spell with Arsenal.

Djourou, who played for Switzerland at the World Cup in Brazil, was handed the captain's armband for Arsenal numerous times during a stint which resulted in 144 appearances for the club.
