Markus Gisdol believes that Hoffenheim beat Augsburg because of the passion they showed on the pitch.

Hoffenheim boss Markus Gisdol has praised his players' passion following their 3-0 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Goals from Roberto Firmino, Andreas Lambertz and Kevin Volland helped the Bundesliga strugglers close the gap on 16th-placed Augsburg to one point at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena.

"I liked a lot of little things," Gisdol told reporters. "Above all, we have acted with passion. So we want to continue modest progress step by step."

Augsburg travel to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
