Inter Milan have released a statement congratulating Roy Hodgson on being appointed the new manager of England.
The 64-year-old had two spells in charge of the Italian club, first arriving for a two-year stint in 1995, before returning in 1999.
"It is with great honesty and happiness that president Massimo Moratti and all the Nerazzurri family celebrate the nomination of Roy Hodgson as manager of England," read the statement.
"The Football Association's choice is the most prestigious prize for an English manager, but in this case rewards a person who has always shown honesty and generosity towards Inter, qualities that formed a rapport of true friendship."
Hodgson, who has signed a four-year deal with the Football Association, will see out the remainder of the season with West Bromwich Albion before taking on the role.
