Ipswich Town announce the signing of former Nottingham Forest captain Luke Chambers on a three-year deal.

Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Luke Chambers after the centre-back signed a three-year deal in Suffolk.

The 26-year-old moves to Portman Road on a free transfer after his contract with Nottingham Forest came to an end last season.

"I'm delighted to be an Ipswich Town player," former Forest captain Chambers told the Tractor Boys' website.

"I spoke to a few people in the game that know the manager and Ipswich and they had nothing but good words to say. Coming here was a no-brainer for me."

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell added: "There were a few clubs in for Luke but I always felt confident we would get him and I'm delighted we have."

Chambers trained with his new teammates today and will be hoping to impress and earn a starting place for the Blues' opening game of the Championship season against Blackburn Rovers on August 18.
