Cesare Prandelli wants Francesco Totti for World Cup

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli admits that he wants Francesco Totti to come out of international retirement to play in next summer's World Cup.

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has admitted that he would like to coax Roma playmaker Francesco Totti out of international retirement.

The Azzurri boss praised Totti for his form this season and stated that he wants to take the 37-year-old to next summer's World Cup.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset, Prandelli said: "Before his injury, Totti did great things and proved he deserves a call-up. Then he stopped and is now getting ready for his comeback.

"We'll see how it goes, as I am keeping Totti under very close observation.

"I am great friends with Francesco. Before the injury he was playing at a stratospheric level and someone like him always makes the difference. Personally, I would take him to the World Cup."

Roma are currently second in Serie A.
