Roma keeper Morgan De Sanctis targets return to winning ways

Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis backs the Giallorossi to maintain their strong start despite Francesco Totti's continued absence through injury.

Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis has insisted that the Giallorossi can cope without Francesco Totti and return to winning ways against Cagliari on Monday.

The Giallorossi's lead at the top of Serie A has been cut to a single point in recent weeks following successive draws with Torino and Sassuolo.

Totti has now been sidelined for more than a month but De Sanctis is confident that Roma have enough quality to compensate, counting on key players to return and boost their Scudetto bid.

He told Sky Sport Italia: "We're certainly not satisfied with the last few results. But this period has been of use to re-charge the batteries and put a few fitness issues right.

"Let's hope that we'll have a few players back for as soon as Monday's game against Cagliari. Even if that is not the case though, we'll be looking for maximum points because it will be important to give more substance to our leadership.

"We're waiting for Totti, but he shouldn't rush things. He just has to focus on recovering fully."

The 36-year-old has been ever-present for Roma since signing from Napoli in the summer, helping coach Rudi Garcia maintain an unbeaten start to life in the Eternal City.
