Fabio Capello admits that the standard in Serie A is falling behind other European leagues.

Russia coach Fabio Capello has admitted that the standard in Serie A is not the same as it used to be.

The former Juventus coach said that the best players tend to depart for other European leagues, which has left his old club without much competition.

"I do not see anyone able to rival Juve next season, which I suspected at the beginning of the year," ANSA.it quotes Capello as saying.

"The Italian championship does not have the same standard it once had, when the best players were in Italy. Now the best are purchased by foreign teams, so there is a far lower level of player ability.

"I must say that the Italian league has lost a lot when it comes to other championships, particularly the German, English and Spanish leagues."

Juventus wrapped up their second successive Serie A title on Sunday.
