The president and CEO of the Anschutz Entertainment Group, Tim Leiweke, hails David Beckham for increasing the popularity of football and Los Angeles Galaxy in the USA.

The president and CEO of the Anschutz Entertainment Group believes that David Beckham "redefined" football in the USA.

Beckham has announced that he will leave Los Angeles Galaxy, owned by AEG, after the MLS Cup final in December.

"Seldom does an athlete redefine a sport and David not only took our franchise to another level but he took our sport to another level," said Tim Leiweke.

"It has been an honour and privilege to be a part of his world, and more importantly, to have him be a part of ours."

Beckham joined Galaxy from Real Madrid in 2007.
