David Beckham gets on the scoresheet as Los Angeles Galaxy surrender a two-goal lead to lose at Western Conference table-toppers San Jose Earthquakes.

A bad week for David Beckham has got even worse after Los Angeles Galaxy slumped to a 4-3 defeat away to San Jose Earthquakes.

After being informed that he would not take part in this summer's London Games as a player, the 37-year-old had reason to smile when he cancelled out Steven Lenhart's seventh-minute opener with a trademark free-kick on the half-hour.

An own goal from Jason Hernandez and an opportunistic Landon Donovan strike then put Galaxy 3-1 up before Victor Bernardez pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time.

Sam Cronin equalised two minutes after the restart and Chris Wondolowski completed Beckham's miserable week in the 61st minute.

Galaxy are now sixth in the Western Conference table - 16 points behind the Earthquakes, who are top.
