Leeds United's development squad manager Neil Redfearn has confirmed that Brian McDermott is keeping a close eye on the club's academy players.
The former Reading boss took charge at Elland Road shortly before the end of last season.
Redfearn told the club's official website: "I know he is an ambitious guy and tactically and technically he is aware and astute. Regarding the first team it's about helping and aiding Brian to where he wants to be with his squad.
"We've got some talented young players here. Hopefully the future is bright but with young players you have to expose them at the right times. With regards to the younger players I'm sure they are in Brian's thinking.
"I've had dialogue with Brian all throughout the summer and we talk about different things and different players. He values my input with regards to the Academy side of things and the players that we have already got at the club."
Leeds finished the season 13th in the Championship table.
