Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Napoli

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Napoli.

Liverpool will be looking to get their Champions League title defence off to a positive start when they travel to Napoli for their Group E opener on Tuesday night.

The Reds won their sixth European Cup by overcoming Tottenham Hotspur in last season's final, and Jurgen Klopp's side certainly look capable of being a force in Europe once again.

The Merseyside giants have made a perfect start to their 2019-20 Premier League campaign, winning all five matches to sit five points clear at the summit.

Klopp's team also beat Chelsea on penalties to win the UEFA Super Cup last month, but they face a tough game against a Napoli side certainly capable of ending the English outfit's winning run.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Liverpool.

Alisson Becker

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: October 20 (vs. Manchester United)

Alisson has been on the sidelines since injuring his calf against Norwich City on the opening night of the 2019-20 Premier League campaign. The Brazil international has since returned to light training, though, and Klopp revealed on Friday that he could return after the next international break.

Naby Keita

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: September 22 (vs. Chelsea)

Naby Keita picked up a hip problem ahead of the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea last month. The midfielder will play no part against Napoli on Tuesday night, but Klopp has revealed that the 24-year-old could be available to feature against Chelsea in the Premier League next weekend.

Divock Origi

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 17 (vs. Napoli)

Divock Origi suffered a twisted ankle during Liverpool's clash with Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon. The 24-year-old has not officially been ruled out of Tuesday's European affair, although it seems unlikely that the Belgium international will be involved.

Nathaniel Clyne
