Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has refuted suggestions that there could be a host of senior players leaving the club following Kenny Dalglish's departure.
The Scottish boss was sacked from his post on Wednesday, which has sparked reports that the likes of Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina and Martin Skrtel could opt for moves away from Anfield.
"I spoke to all our senior players yesterday and I don't think that will happen," Ayre told the Liverpool Echo. "Of course Kenny is an important part of the fabric of the club and always will be.
"There isn't anyone who won't be disappointed with the decision but at the same time players are respectful. It's about the football club. We are talking about going forward, not going backwards."
Wigan Athletic confirmed yesterday that they have given permission to Roberto Martinez to speak to Liverpool over the managerial vacancy.
