Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard: 'Luis Suarez desperate to make amends'

Steven Gerrard insists that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will be "desperate" to make amends for missing a header during the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has insisted that Luis Suarez will be "desperate" to make amends for the header he missed during the Merseyside derby.

The Uruguay international striker managed to get on the scoresheet once again for the Reds during Saturday's 3-3 draw at Goodison Park.

However, the forward could have improved Liverpool's scoreline but he was denied twice by Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard in the second half.

"Luis is a machine," the Belfast Telegraph quotes Gerrard as saying. "He's right up there with the best in the world.

"Luis is the type of player who won't be thinking about his free-kick after the game, he'll be thinking about the header he missed.

"That's why he's so good. He'll be desperate to get back out and make amends for that."

Liverpool remain second in the Premier League table, four points adrift of Arsenal.
