Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp talks up the importance of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino following their match-winning display against Southampton.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has talked up the importance of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino following their match-winning display against Southampton on Sunday.

The attacking duo combined for both goals at St Mary's as Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners, with Firmino bagging the first after just six minutes and then producing an exquisite assist to set up a second for Salah.

Salah's strike was his 22nd Premier League goal of the season - leaving him one behind Harry Kane and one above Sergio Aguero in the leading goalscorers list - and Klopp believes that the winger is benefitting from Liverpool's style of play.

"I really think Aguero and Kane and a few others are really good players as well, but our boys are important for us," Klopp is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I love them because of their skills, their attitude but their work-rate is outstanding. They profit from our style of play as well. They play in areas where they like to have the ball.

"But, in this strong league, you cannot be third without fantastic players. They are two of them."

Liverpool currently sit third in the Premier League table, now only two points behind second-placed Manchester United.
