Liverpool are reportedly considering fielding two separate teams as their EFL Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa clashes with the Club World Cup.

Liverpool could reportedly be forced to play their EFL Cup quarter-final on the same day as their Club World Cup fixture.

The Reds were drawn away to Aston Villa after beating Arsenal on penalties after a pulsating 5-5 draw at Anfield in their last game.

However, the fixture clashes with their Club World Cup commitments in Qatar, a competition for which they qualified after winning the Champions League last season.

As a result, the Reds are thought to be considering fielding two separate teams in the two fixtures, according to The Mirror.

Jurgen Klopp has threatened that Liverpool would pull out of the competition if a new date cannot be arranged that suits their packed schedule, however.
