Simon Mignolet refuses to dwell on mistake

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet admits that he should have done better with Alvaro Negredo's winner in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has said that he is refusing to dwell on his error that gave Manchester City a 2-1 victory on Boxing Day.

Manuel Pellegrini's men came from 1-0 down to claim all three points, with Alvaro Negredo grabbing the winner just before half time.

Mignolet was at fault for the goal, palming the Spaniard's weak shot over his head and into the back of the net. However, despite admitting that he should have done better, the Belgium international is looking to move on.

"It is one of those things that happens, unfortunately, when you are a goalkeeper. Any goal you concede is a disappointment," the 25-year-old told reporters.

"I probably should have done better with it. I've been there in the past as a goalkeeper and you have to accept it and move forward to the next game. It was a very awkward moment for us just before we went into half time.

"You always win with 11 and lose with 11 and more importantly also with the people on the bench."

The loss sees Liverpool drop to fourth place in the Premier League table.
