Liverpool made it 12 Premier League matches without defeat and moved up to fifth in the table courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Burnley at Anfield this evening.

Jordan Henderson opened the scoring with a powerful strike from outside the box before setting up Daniel Sturridge for the second shortly after half time.

Here, Sports Mole looks at who stood out during the midweek match on Merseyside.

LIVERPOOL

Goal

Simon Mignolet: Made one or two questionable decisions to come out of his box, but was committed on each occasion and won the ball. Only had one shot on target to face on a quiet evening, but was commanding in the air and chalks up another clean sheet. (7/10)

Defence

Emre Can: Another good display from the youngster, who is a fixture of this Liverpool team now. A couple of trademark bursts from defence and his general composure on the ball typified his play, while he once again showed his versatility by switching position to accommodate changes. (7/10)

Martin Skrtel: Is enjoying a fine run of form at the moment and continued that tonight. Was always in the right place to deal with danger and gave Barnes and Ings nothing all night. (7/10)

Dejan Lovren: Solid performance in the back three, keeping the Burnley attackers quiet throughout. Showed no signs of the errors that have plagued his Liverpool career at times. (6/10)

Midfield

Raheem Sterling: Switched to right wing-back this evening but was still able to cause the defence problems with his pace and willingness to run at Mee. (7/10)

Jordan Henderson: Another superb display in the middle of the park from a man who is beginning to look worthy of being Steven Gerrard's successor. His goal, assist and long passing bore the hallmarks of Gerrard at his peak as he put in a man-of-the-match display. (8/10)

Joe Allen: Consistently tidy in possession, rarely giving the ball away and keeping things ticking over as Liverpool controlled the game. (7/10)

Adam Lallana: Plays with such style when he is on form. Silky skills and lovely touches aplenty in a good performance that saw him link up with Coutinho and Sturridge well. (7/10)

Philippe Coutinho: Not quite the livewire performance that downed Manchester City at the weekend but still a constant threat with his movement and ability to pick a pass. Set up Sturridge for a great chance late in the first half having earlier come close to another stunning strike of his own. (7/10)

Alberto Moreno: Not too involved down the left as most of Liverpool's attacks came through either Coutinho or down the opposite flank. Did squander one decent chance in the second half, though. (6/10)

Attack

Daniel Sturridge: Took his header really well to effectively kill the game off as a contest early in the second half. Could have easily had a hat-trick, though, coming close inside 30 seconds before missing a glorious chance shortly before the break. (7/10)

Substitutes

Kolo Toure: Replaced Moreno with a little under 20 minutes remaining and helped his side to see out the routine victory. (6/10)

Glen Johnson: Came on for Sturridge as Liverpool reshuffled again in the closing stages of the match. (6/10)

Rickie Lambert: Only had a few minutes on the field having replaced Sterling in the dying embers of the game. (6/10)

BURNLEY

Goal

Tom Heaton: Quite comfortably his side's best player. Could do nothing about either goal but kept the visitors in the match with a string of fine saves throughout the first half. (7/10)

Defence

Kieran Trippier: Put one dangerous cross into the box but aside from that spent most of his time trying to keep Coutinho quiet whenever the Brazilian deigned to attack down his flank. Perhaps should have done better with Sturridge's goal having failed to spot the striker's run. (5/10)

Michael Keane: Did well to only concede two goals considering Liverpool's dominance throughout. Didn't do too much wrong, but came up against an attack that is hard to handle right now. (5/10)

Jason Shackell: Forced to do plenty of defending and, like Keane, did as good a job as he could in difficult circumstances for his side. (5/10)

Ben Mee: Had his hands full with Sterling throughout and struggled to deal with the winger's pace at times. (5/10)

Midfield

George Boyd: Had very few opportunities to get forward, instead spending most of his time defending in his own half due to Liverpool's control of the game. (5/10)

David Jones: Simply outclassed in the midfield battle as Henderson and Allen kept the ball with ease for Liverpool. Could do little but chase shadows for much of the match. (5/10)

Scott Arfield: Like the majority of his teammates, was full of running and never lacked desire, but was comfortably second best today. (5/10)

Michael Kightly: Taken off just seven minutes into the second half having failed to make an impact during his time on the field. (5/10)

Attack

Ashley Barnes: Got through plenty of work up top, but it was a thankless task tonight. Got no change from the Liverpool defence in a toothless 90 minutes. (5/10)

Danny Ings: Chased everything down and kept Skrtel, Lovren and Can on their toes. Chances were at a premium for his side, though, and he didn't get an opportunity to show his potential summer suitors exactly what he is capable of before limping off. (6/10)

Substitutes

Ross Wallace: Replaced Kightly early in the second half but had minimal impact as Liverpool continued to cruise to the points. (5/10)

Sam Vokes: Barely got a kick during his cameo having come on for Barnes in the 66th minute. (5/10)

Lukas Jutkiewicz: Came on for the injured Ings in the closing stages of a match that was already lost for his side. (6/10)
