Liverpool hit Norwich City for five

Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are among the goals as Liverpool hit five goals against Norwich City.

Brendan Rodgers's Liverpool scored five unanswered goals during their home encounter with Norwich City at Anfield this afternoon.

The first chance went to the visitors from Norfolk with four minutes played, but Ryan Bennett only succeeded in heading the ball straight at Brad Jones in the Liverpool goal.

Bennett's failure to open the scoring was eventually punished in the 26th minute. Luis Suarez picked out Jordan Henderson on the edge of the area and the England international sent a half-volley beyond the reach of Mark Bunn.

Suarez went on to get his name on the score sheet nine minutes before the break when he collected a pass from Steven Gerrard that Daniel Sturridge had dummied and the Uruguayan went on the beat Bunn.

The hosts continued to dominate after the restart and they managed to put the match out of Norwich's reach just before the hour mark. Stewart Downing picked out Sturridge inside the area and the recent signing from Chelsea managed to score his third goal in as many outings for the Reds.

A fourth Liverpool goal soon followed as captain Gerrard drilled the ball into the Norwich net from 25 yards out with 66 minutes played.

With 16 minutes remaining the home side added a fifth and final goal when Norwich defender Bennett sent Raheem Sterling's shot into his own net.
