Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that his side would be "crazy" not to retain their interest in Fulham's Fabio Carvalho after a failed deadline day move.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted that his side would be "crazy" to withdraw their interest in Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho.

The 19-year-old had reportedly agreed a five-year deal with the Reds on transfer deadline day and was undergoing his medical, but Liverpool could not get a deal over the line before the window shut.

Klopp's side are expected to renew their interest in Carvalho when the summer transfer window opens, and the Reds boss has confirmed that his side are still harbouring hopes of a deal.

Speaking to the press, Klopp said: "We are obviously still interested, it would be crazy if not. It's not in our hands but I think Marco [Silva] said yesterday in his press conference about these kind of deals.

"It was late before the transfer window closed again and so in the end it didn't work out. But we will see what happens [in the summer]."

Carvalho has contributed seven goals and five assists to Fulham's promotion charge in 18 Championship appearances this season and is also rumoured to be on the radar of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
