Liverpool close in on Nathaniel Clyne?

Liverpool reportedly close in on a deal for Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne.

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on a deal for Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne after tabling an improved offer worth around £10.5m which could eventually rise to £12.5m.

The Reds saw a £10m bid for the England right-back rejected earlier in the summer.

It was believed that the Saints were holding out for around £15m, but with the defender in the final year of his contract, the improved offer will be accepted by Southampton, according to The Telegraph.

Clyne could become the Reds' sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, James Milner, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino, whose £29m deal was confirmed on Wednesday.
