Liverpool will reportedly demand an "astronomical" fee for Philippe Coutinho after a blunder on the Nike website appeared to confirm his imminent arrival at Barcelona.

Liverpool will reportedly demand an "astronomical" fee for Philippe Coutinho following a blunder on the Nike website which appeared to leak the transfer before it has happened.

Nike - who are Barcelona's shirt manufacturers and also have their own sponsorship deal with Coutinho - accidentally announced the Brazilian's imminent arrival on their official online store at the weekend before the post was taken down within the hour.

Liverpool are understood to be considering court action over the leak, and The Telegraph reports that the mistake will also allow them to up their asking price for Coutinho.

Barcelona made three separate big-money bids to sign the 25-year-old during the summer, the latter of which was around £115m, but Liverpool held firm in their refusal to sell their star asset.

However, the Catalan giants are expected to resume their attempts to sign the playmaker this month and are thought to be lining up a £130m bid.

Coutinho has been in dazzling form for Liverpool so far this season, scoring 12 goals and creating eight more in 19 league and Champions League appearances.
