Liverpool have been linked with a January move for PSV Eindhoven star Ola Toivonen.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to take the versatile Swede on loan for the remainder of the season, with a view to signing him permanently in the summer, The Mirror reports.
Toivonen, who can play in either midfield or attack, will be a free agent this summer when his contract with PSV expires.
Liverpool are said to be willing to offer the Dutch club a relatively small fee to take the player on loan for what is left of the current campaign.
The Reds also attempted to sign Toivonen under Kenny Dalglish in 2010.
