Liverpool make Mario Balotelli bid?

A report in Italy claims that Liverpool have made a bid of £17.5m for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli.

Liverpool have reportedly submitted a £17.5m offer to AC Milan for Mario Balotelli.

The Reds are believed to be in the market for a new striker following Luis Suarez's departure to Barcelona earlier this summer.

When asked about speculation that had linked his club with former Manchester City frontman Balotelli at the start of the month, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insisted that he had no interest in signing the Italian international.

However, according to Sport Mediaset, a bid has now been lodged for the 24-year-old, with Liverpool awaiting a response from their Serie A counterparts.

The report adds that Milan would hold out for £20m for the centre-forward.
