Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos this summer.
The 28-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United in January; however, a switch to St James' Park failed to materialise.
The Magpies are expected to renew their interest in Carlos this summer, but they may face competition from Liverpool and Man City, as Fichajes reports that both clubs have now joined the race for his signature.
Sevilla would likely demand a fee significantly higher than the €15m they spent to sign the Brazilian from Nantes in the summer of 2019.
Julen Lopetegui considers Carlos and fellow centre-back Jules Kounde as two key players in his first-team squad, though the La Liga outfit may find it challenging to keep hold of the pair this summer, with several top European clubs registering their interest.
Carlos, who will see his contract expire in June 2024, has made a total of 127 appearances for Sevilla across all competitions, including 36 this season.
