Liverpool reportedly plan to entertain summer offers for Joel Matip, who is out of contract next summer and could be allowed to leave for as little as £10m.

Liverpool will reportedly not stand in Joel Matip's way of leaving the club this summer if a suitable offer comes in.

The former Cameroon international was hitherto a fan favourite at Anfield, but he has fallen down the pecking order courtesy of the strong form of Ibrahima Konate alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Matip has made just 18 appearances in all competitions this term - scoring once - and he has only started nine games in the Premier League and a further two in the Champions League.

Furthermore, the 31-year-old has not played a single minute this month, failing to make it off the bench against Real Madrid, Manchester United, Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Matip's contract with the Reds only runs until the end of next season, meaning that Liverpool stand to lose him on a free in 2024 if he does not pen an extension.

Rather than let Matip walk away for nothing, Football Insider claims that Liverpool will entertain offers for the centre-back this summer in order to garner a respectable fee.

The report states that at least one of Liverpool's four centre-backs - Matip, Joe Gomez, Konate and Van Dijk - will be on the way out, and the Cameroonian is the most likely to seek pastures new at this stage.

Clubs will supposedly be made aware of Matip's availability, and Liverpool could demand between £10m and £15m to sanction a sale in the upcoming window.

A calf injury has not helped the former Schalke 04 man's fortunes this season, but when fit, he has also come under criticism for a noticeable decline in performances.

Matip has 10 goal and six assists to show from 184 games for Liverpool since joining from Schalke in the summer of 2016, scoring his only goal this season against Ajax in the Champions League.

The defender has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup and Community Shield under Jurgen Klopp, who could be facing a mass exodus of unwanted players this summer.

Matip's fellow out-of-favour centre-back Nat Phillips will likely be sold in the summer, having seen a proposed January exit blocked due to Van Dijk's hamstring injury.

Roberto Firmino is confirmed to be leaving when his contract expires at the end of June, and he could be joined out of the exit door by Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arthur, with the latter's loan deal from Juventus not expected to be made permanent.

Second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher could also be on the way out in search of regular game time elsewhere, and the future of 37-year-old James Milner is shrouded in uncertainty.

The midfielder's contract is up in the summer, but a separate report has claimed that Klopp has urged the board to offer him a new one-year deal.
