Juventus will try to scupper any Liverpool attempt to re-sign Xabi Alonso by making a cut-price offer for the Real Madrid midfielder in January.
Alonso left Anfield to join Los Blancos in 2009, but his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires next summer and negotiations over an extension have so far proved unsuccessful.
According to talkSPORT, Madrid are happy with their other midfield options and will consider selling the 32-year-old in the winter transfer window in order to prevent him from leaving on a free at the end of the season.
With Alonso sidelined by a broken metatarsal, Real manager Carlo Ancelotti can currently choose between Sami Khedira, Luka Modric, Casemiro and £27m signing Asier Illarramendi in the middle of the park.
Liverpool have constantly been linked with a move to bring back Alonso, who made 210 appearances for them during a five-year spell for the Reds, but Juve are also keeping a keen eye on his situation.
