Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says that he will look to recruit a couple of new players but won't be spending much in the January transfer window.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he won't spend much money in the January transfer window.

The Reds endured a goalless draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday to continue their lacklustre start to the season.

The Merseysiders had been tipped to recruit a number of new players in January, however Rodgers is adamant that the squad won't be changing too much.

"[The transfer window] is going to be important because we want to improve the group but the reality is, certainly for this season, we're not going to have a bucket load of money to go out and spend on four or five players, but we'd hope we could make some additions to the group that can help us," said Rodgers.

"We're improving well and just getting in a couple of fresh faces that can help will be good for us and then we'll assess it again in the summer.

"We're just trying to build something and unless you've that got money and those resources you can't do it immediately. You've just got to build it over time and that's something, it's pretty clear, that will be done at Liverpool."

Liverpool travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
