Sergio Aguero fit for Liverpool clash, Vincent Kompany ruled out with injury

Manuel Pellegrini confirms that Sergio Aguero is fit for Manchester City's clash against Liverpool, but Vincent Kompany is ruled out.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Sergio Aguero is fit to play in Saturday's showdown against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, but captain Vincent Kompany will miss out.

Aguero had been expected to return to the squad after missing City's last seven games due to a hamstring injury.

David Silva was also thought to be closing in on a comeback, but Pellegrini has told reporters in today's press conference that it would be too much of a "risk" to play him.

Kompany joins an injury list including Samir Nasri and Wilfried Bony, both of whom will miss Saturday's fixture.
