Kevin De Bruyne: 'Competition good for Manchester City'

Belgian attacker Kevin De Bruyne says that he is prepared to play "whenever" he is needed at Manchester City this season.

Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that he is prepared to play "whenever" he is needed this season as Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola faces the difficult task of keeping his star-studded squad happy.

Benjamin Mendy, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, Emerson and Danilo have all arrived at the Etihad Stadium this summer, and it is thought that Guardiola wants at least one more new player before the transfer window closes.

De Bruyne was in the Man City XI for Saturday's Premier League opener at Brighton & Hove Albion, but the Belgian has insisted that he is prepared to rotate out of the team this season due to the number of matches that they will face.

"I'm ready to play whenever they need me. We've got 60-65 games and sometimes that can be a lot. Last year with the injuries we had you don't always have those options but this year our team is loaded," De Bruyne told reporters.

"We're going to change a lot this season. That's the way we started last month. Maybe he wants to try to start like this but it can go quick... sometimes it's three, sometimes it's five or four.

"These days you need to adapt quickly. It's dependant on the situation when we're changing. We're changing constantly. If their goalkeeper has the ball it can look like a 4-3-3 or a 5-2-3. It depends how we want to press them or whether you want to go back."

Man City will look to make it back-to-back wins at the start of the new season when they host Everton next Monday.
