Sergio Aguero confirms plans to return to Independiente

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero confirms that he wants to return to former club Independiente before the end of his career.

Sergio Aguero has revealed that he wants to return to former club Independiente when his time with Manchester City comes to an end.

Aguero came through the youth system at Independiente before going on to score 23 times in 56 first-team appearances for the Argentine outfit ahead of a 2006 move to Atletico Madrid.

The 30-year-old has since won 13 major trophies during his time at Atletico and City, helping the latter make it back-to-back Premier League titles during the recent season.

However, speaking on international duty ahead of the Copa America, the Argentina forward has confirmed that he is planning a return to his first club.

"I always try [to get back to Argentina]," Aguero told reporters. "I know what the fans [of Independiente] want, but I have a contract with City and I try to focus on these two years I've got left. Then I'll see what I'll do but of course, the Rojo (Independiente) is my priority."

Aguero - City's all-time leading goalscorer with 231 goals - netted 32 times in 46 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side during the 2018-19 campaign.
