Mario Gotze reportedly turned down an offer from Manchester City to make him the highest-paid player in the world, prior to his agreement with Bayern Munich.
The Borussia Dortmund playmaker will join the Bundesliga champions next season after it was officially announced last week.
However, according to The Metro, the German international rejected the chance to earn £330k per week at City before agreeing to join Bayern.
The deal would have earned Gotze £17m a season, which would have eclipsed the £325k that Anzhi Makhachkala pay striker Samuel Eto'o every seven days.
