Vincent Kompany enjoying Belgium pressure

Belgium captain Vincent Kompany insists that he is looking forward to dealing with the pressure that will accompany the side to the World Cup.

Belgium captain Vincent Kompany has admitted that he will enjoy the pressure that will accompany the squad to the World Cup in Brazil.

The Manchester City defender will lead a Belgium team that has been regarded by many observers as potential winners of the tournament.

Kompany has acknowledged that while there may be hype surrounding the team in his homeland, he is looking forward to dealing with the expectation.

"It's crazy back home at the moment. It is so intense and everything related to the national team is taken out of context and made bigger," he told The Telegraph.

"It is a huge pressure but I like it. We could only dream of this opportunity 10 years ago. Now we have got it, I plan to enjoy it."

Belgium have been drawn in Group H with Algeria, Russia and South Korea.
