Louis van Gaal confirms Robin van Persie ankle injury

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal confirms reports that Robin van Persie will be absent for the next few weeks with an ankle injury.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hinted that striker Robin van Persie could miss the club's fixtures during March with an ankle injury.

After suffering the problem against Swansea City last weekend, reports suggested that the 31-year-old could miss the next month, and although Van Gaal wouldn't give an exact date for his return, he admitted that he faces more than two weeks on the sidelines.

The Dutchman told reporters: "He is injured. It is an ankle problem.

"I do not think it is very heavy but ankle problems can take a long time. It is not one or two weeks."

Van Persie has scored 10 times in 26 games in all competitions during the current campaign.
